Kissing with Braces
Q: While kissing someone with braces, could our braces become locked together?
A: Probably not, thanks to advances in the way braces are designed and
made. Braces these days are a lot smaller and smoother than they once were.
Your braces probably aren't as clunky as those railroad tracks you may
have seen on TV or in magazines from many years ago. You may even have
special options with your braces, such as clear brackets, which makes it
harder for anybody to see your braces, let alone get hooked on them!
What's more likely is that you and your honey might find it a little uncomfortable
to kiss, particularly when you first get your braces put on or whenever
you have them tightened. Puckering up might not be so pleasant when your
teeth and gums are sore, so you may want to wait a few days.
If you ever do get anything stuck on your braces - whether it's a stringy
piece of dental floss or the cute guy from your English class - ask your
mom or dad for help or call your orthodontist for removal tips.
